Fort Gates Ferry

Oldest Operating ferry in Florida, shuttles automobiles and passengers between Welaka and Ocala National Forest.
Operates from 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. daily, except Tuesday for $9 per car. Directions: From SR 19, just south of the Putnam County line, turn left onto Ferry Road and travel 7 miles to the ramp at the river. Turn on your headlights and the ferry will come and get you. From Welaka on the east side of the St. Johns River, travel south on CR 309, turn west on Mount Royal Avenue, then right on Fort Gates Ferry Road. (386) 467-2411
