Shop Til You Drop in Downtown Palatka

Palatka may be the largest city in Putnam County, but it still radiates small-town charm. Its historic downtown offers visitors a chance to park, take a stroll down St. Johns Avenue, and discover a shopping scene unlike anywhere else. You won’t find national chains and box stores, but you will find locally owned boutiques, antique shops, and specialty stores packed with treasures. So break out the comfy shoes – it’s time to take a walk and enjoy a fun-filled day of shopping in downtown Palatka. (And if you forgot your comfy shoes, no problem. We know the perfect place downtown to find those, too.)

Antiques

Downtown Palatka is an antique-hunters dream come true! At Deputy’s Attic and Elsie Bell’s, every shelf holds a piece of history. It’s so fun to wander through the store and wonder about the stories behind each find. You might not know exactly what you’re looking for when you come in, but chances are you’ll walk out with the perfect must-have piece.

Clothing

If you’re looking for a cute new outfit for a special occasion (or just because), you’ll surely find it as you roam the streets of downtown Palatka. Turquoise & Tinsel Boutique carries everything from casual hatsand t-shirts to cute dresses. Things & Tings brings a Caribbean flair to Palatka and has men’s and women’s clothing, while Repeat Boutique Consignment Shop offers a variety of one-of-a-kind items waiting to be rediscovered. If you’re looking for boots and shoes, Brownie’s Boot Shop is the local go-to, and for bridal and formal attire, you’ll want to check out Daniel Thompson Bridals.

Gifts

Don’t forget to find souvenirs to take back home to your loved ones. Just know that you’ll probably find plenty of fun things for yourself in the process, too. Urban Farmhouse carries things like plants and handcrafted wood products such as knives and cutting boards. Lady Bug’s Gift Shoppe is perfect for jewelry, clothing, and candles – including a St. Johns River one. Decor With a Twist offers stylish home furnishings, and Love My Art by Roselli sells original local artwork. If you get inspired to create your own, they offer classes as well.

Books, Games, and Comics

Looking for a good book to curl up with?  Needful Things is for you! They have a wide variety of used books and games. Comic book enthusiasts won’t want to miss Hometown Comics & Collectibles, with vintage comics, toys, and memorabilia that dates back to the 1970s. They’re collectors themselves and keep a rotating inventory, so you never know what you’ll find. While there’s plenty for you to sift through to add to your own collection, they also buy and trade.

Fabric and Quilting Supplies

Quilters come from near and far to peruse the variety of fabric, notions, and kits available at Miss D’s Quilt Shop. They also carry the biggest names in furniture and machines, and offer servicing as well. Their passion has earned them an esteemed place in the quilting community, and they love sharing their knowledge. They offer classes and offer guidance to newbies, intermediates, and experienced quilt-makers to help them all perfect their craft

Guns and Ammo

Brownie’s Outpost offers a full selection of new, used, and antique firearms, as well as ammunition and every accessory you could need. Want to try out your new firearm? They also operate a gun range across the street.

With all of that shopping, you’re sure to work up an appetite. When your shopping bags are full, there are plenty of restaurants in Palatka where you can fill your belly as well. For a perfect ending to your day of shopping, you can even raise a glass at Azalea Brewing Company. Stop in at their downtown location and try some of the local favorites like the Bartram Blonde Ale, Palatka Lean, 386 IPA, or the Ravine Red Ale.

And don’t forget – Palatka is just the beginning of your Putnam County adventure. Each community has its own special spots waiting to be explored. Download the Visit Putnam FL app for Apple or Android to learn more about all of the other exciting things to do here.
