Georgia-Pacific celebrates Phase 2 groundbreaking in Palatka, advancing Putnam County’s manufacturing and logistics future.
On March 13th, Georgia‑Pacific invited the community to celebrate its groundbreaking on Phase 2 of its $83 million warehouse expansion at the Palatka mill, marking another major investment in Putnam County’s manufacturing and logistics economy.
The new 400,000‑square‑foot warehouse will connect to the existing facility and feature advanced technology, including automated guided vehicles, to enhance safety and shipping efficiency. Construction is expected to take about one year.
Phase 1: now complete, added a 36‑acre trailer yard, a new inspection station, and a dedicated entrance on County Road 216, all designed to streamline truck traffic and support higher‑volume outbound shipments.
As Putnam County’s largest private employer, Georgia‑Pacific’s continued investment strengthens the region’s distribution network and reinforces its long‑term commitment to the community. The Chamber congratulates Georgia‑Pacific on this exciting next chapter and looks forward to the continued growth, innovation, and job creation this project will bring to our region.
