Major State Road 100 Improvements Coming to Putnam County, FL
A major roadwork project is scheduled to begin next year along State Road 100 in Putnam County, running from the Clay County line to the St. Johns River Water Management District office near the Palatka Municipal Airport, according to the Florida Department of Transportation. The work is designed to improve safety, extend the life of the roadway, and enhance travel for residents, commuters, and freight traffic.
The project will include milling and resurfacing the roadway, drainage upgrades, improved pavement markings, and updated signage to create a smoother, more visible, and more durable driving surface. FDOT has also submitted an environmental resource permit exemption related to anticipated wetland impacts associated with slope corrections and turn‑lane improvements at Bardin Road, a key connection in northwest Putnam County.
Construction is expected to begin in early 2027 and continue through fall 2028, with an estimated construction cost of about $15 million. The project is currently in the design phase, which includes engineering, environmental review, and coordination with local governments and stakeholders.
